The Public Health Order issued by Douglas County Health Director Dr. Pour allows for the Continuity of Government Operations. Therefore, the City Planning Department will continue to hold open, public board meetings until further notice. All board meetings will continue to be held in accordance with the Nebraska Open Meetings Act.

Your safety and health are important so we will be following the recommended guidelines to minimize attendance and contact with others at these meetings and provide a safe meeting space. In order to minimize contact, we ask that you follow these guidelines:

  • Maintain and respect the recommended six-foot social distance from others in attendance.
  • Feel free to stay outside the meeting room while other cases are being heard. Staff will be there to direct you when it is time for your case to be heard.
  • Minimize the number of people who might accompany you to the meeting.
  • Practice preventative measures before attending the meeting and while at the meeting (wash your hands or use sanitizer, cover your cough or sneeze with your shirt sleeve, refrain from shaking hands or other contact with others who are in attendance, etc.).

Please continue to refer back to this webpage or the Planning Department’s main page https://planning.cityofomaha.org/ for any updates or changes to board meeting schedules. Lastly, please refer to any State or Federal guidelines for infection control on a regular basis.

The Planning Department administers a number of boards.  These boards, whose members are appointed by the Mayor and ratified by the City Council, have specific responsibilities outlined by the City Charter or City Ordinances.

Prior to the board hearing, the applicant or any interested party may schedule a time to review the City's case file during normal business hours by contacting the Planning Department at (402) 444-5150.
